The matter was released on 22 November 2011 by the Daily Mail. Julie McCabe, a 38-year old Englishwoman, had gone into a coma after a home-performed hair dye. Her family pointed out an ingredient: para-phenylenediamine, known to be highly allergenic.
In a 25 November 2012 paper, the Daily Mail announces the death of Julie McCabe, who spent the full year in an intensive care unit in a hospital.

No formal link has been established with the colourant use; however, the case remains under investigation. The manufacturer, L’Oreal, offers to work with the medical team responsible for the researches.
