La Roche-Posay supports cancer patients

La Roche-Posay soutient les malades du cancer

How do people with long term illnesses experience the side effects of their treatments? On the occasion of World Cancer Day, organized on February 4, the dermocosmetics brand unveiled a survey conducted in partnership with OpinionWay that highlights the side effects experienced by patients.

The survey was conducted in September 2021, on a sample of 1217 people representative of the French population. Respondents were aged 18 and over. 322 of them are affected by cancer.

“Dry skin, itching, burning… The side effects of cancer treatments are not well known by the general public and are particularly difficult to live with for patients who suffer from them,” explains the brand.

The survey reveals that 8 out of 10 patients suffer from side effects related to treatments (hair loss, burning, dryness, sensitivity to the sun, itching).
Thus, 93% of panelists explain that these manifestations have an impact on self-esteem, quality of life and image (for 88%).
6 out of 10 French people believe that these side effects are not well known and are not well taken into account by doctors. “This observation is shared in the same proportion by people who have been affected by cancer and have had side effects on the skin. These patients say they were not well informed about the treatments that could help them. Eighteen percent think that the effects are irreversible and that there are no treatment options.”
