Cosmetics regulations: FEBEA Q&A in Chartres

Triman logo, notification of establishment, denaturing alcohol, claims (without, hypoallergenic, anti-wrinkle, etc.), cosmetics tax and reporting sales to the ANSM, future of CMR ingredients (Polyaminopropyl biguanide, formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasers), and more: FEBEA reviewed the hot topics of today in terms of cosmetics regulations in conclusion of the 12th congress in Chartres.

It has become a tradition at the Perfumes & Cosmetics Congress in Chartres: after the second day of conferences, the whole team (Scientific & Regulatory Affairs, Legal & Labour Affairs departments) from FEBEA, France’s federation of beauty companies, leads an informal Q&A session with the congress-goers. Speaking last 20 November were Anne Dux, Virginie d’Enfert, Catherine Bramaud, Emmanuelle Gourbin, and Françoise Audebert. They provided a lot of very concrete information on technical, regulatory, and legal topics.

The new logo used to indicate recyclable packaging that must be sorted is still awaiting its implementation decree. Apparently, after the Council of State carried out its examination, the latest version is now on the desks of the relevant ministries, awaiting signature. Its use may end up being voluntary (rather than mandatory) or permitted in paper-free contexts. Whatever the outcome, the provision will enter into force on 1st January 2015.
