Connected beauty… continued!

I have been talking about it for a long time, and some of us have even been waiting for it quite impatiently, but here it is: the first Smartphone fitted with an application wholly dedicated to skin analysis and beauty skincare. It is called OKU, and it is the first ‘Personal Skin Coach’, a system that performs measurements to characterize the skin condition and is connected to an application that provides instructions for use.

You can visit the device's website to try and understand how it works. First, it should be said that the project was developed by an American start-up managed by Rahul Mehendale. After graduating from Harvard Business School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he became the Corporate Strategy Director of Deloitte Consulting. Among his clients, he counted a few of the world’s leading medical device and beauty product manufacturers. We can imagine that it was in this environment that he got the idea of developing this device. As a result, he is not a scientist, but more likely an entrepreneur that tries to keep up with the times. He was the co-founder and CEO of mySkin.com ,
It is a platform dedicated to skincare products. The website recommends a series of products based on a questionnaire set up to analyze the skin. The platform also offers a device to analyze the skin called Dermograph™.

It is a device that is based on the analysis of images generated by quite standard a spectroscope, which makes it possible to visualize and analyze the skin’s basic characteristics. It shows many similarities with the approach adopted to develop the Ioma™ device in Europe. The miniaturization …
