Dove starts forest restoration

Dove se lance dans la restauration forestière

Unilever’s flagship brand has just announced an 8.5 million euro forest restoration project. Dove, in partnership with the NGO Conservation International, has implemented a plan to combat global warming by restoring 20,000 hectares of forest in the Sumatra region of Indonesia.

Dove, known and recognized for its commitment to women, is also committed to sustainable development.
In collaboration with Conservation International and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), Dove will protect and restore 20,000 hectares of forest (an area twice the size of Paris) in North Sumatra, Indonesia, home to some of the world’s richest biodiversity, over a five-year period.

This project is expected to avoid the release of more than 200,000 tons of CO2 emissions. These projected impacts will be monitored and evaluated in accordance with Indonesian carbon policies. The rehabilitation also aims to safeguard the habitats of endangered species and improve the livelihoods of 16,000 people living in North Sumatra.

“This landmark initiative is also part of Dove’s accelerated plans to achieve a deforestation-free supply chain by 2023 and net zero CO2 emissions from its products by 2039,” comments Dove. “Can we really celebrate beauty if it comes at the expense of the planet?
