Proposed CLH classification for Benzotriazole

Proposition de classification CLH pour le Benzotriazole

On 8 November 2021, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a consultation on a harmonised classification and labelling proposal from Germany for the antimicrobial agent Benzotriazole. This consultation is open until 21 January 2022.

1H-Benzotriazole (CAS: 95-14-7 - EC: 202-394-1 - INCI: Benzotriazole) is listed in the CosIng as an antimicrobial agent. It is not regulated by the Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 and is not listed in Annex VI of the CLP Regulation.

Germany proposes to classify the substance as Aquatic Chronic 2 with the hazard statement H411 - Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects, the pictogram GHS09 and the signal word: Wng (Warning).

The ECHA consultation is open until 21 January 2022.
