A new Regulation, number 344/2013 dated 4 April, modifies the Regulation 1223/2009, so-called Cosmetics Regulation. The topic of this modification is an up-date of its Annexes, to adjust them in line with the evolutions of the previous Directive.
The Cosmetics Regulation is implemented in its entirety on 11 July 2013; however, as its annexes, especially those listing the prohibited or submitted-to-restrictions substances, had been defined in 2008, when the Regulation was adopted. In the meantime, the equivalent Annexes of the Directive that the Regulation replaces have been adapted to the technical and scientific developments, especially those linked to the fight against the potential risks toward consumers and to protect public health.
Thus, this Regulation 344/2013 is the transposition of the current Annexes of the Directive in the Regulation. It will be implemented also on 11 July 2013.
