The Bioth-Ecology culture of Codif Technologie Naturelle

La culture Bioth-Ecology de Codif Technologie Naturelle

Since its creation, Codif Technologie Naturelle has been producing innovative active ingredients while remaining faithful to its environmental friendly values. The director of Codif TN, Romuald Vallée, has chosen a new challenge for his teams: to propose more innovative active ingredients that have less impact on the environment. To do this, one word will guide the company’s actions: Bioth-Ecology.

When we ask Romuald Vallée, what the concept of Bioth-Ecology is, he answers: “the ecology of the future.” This word is of course taken from the word biotechnology. According to the company and its director, to continue to dip into the planet’s reserves is no longer a sustainable solution. This is why biotechnologies, technologies of the living, are a more than interesting solution. This technology makes it possible to cultivate the living without ever putting pressure on nature.
So why add “ecology” in this case to the word biotechnology? Codif only does natural as Romuald Vallée explains: “Codif Technologie Naturelle uses high value-added cultivation technologies to grow plants and algae, identically to their natural environment.”

The Bioth-Ecology culture, applies to rare or fragile microorganisms and algae. For these elements Bioth-Ecology is a technology of “copy and paste” of the living. In this mode of culture, specific living conditions, corresponding to those of the natural habitat of the organism, are recreated. According to Romuald, the ultimate goal of Codif’s use of Bioth-Ecology is “to take nature, which is already a work of art, and extract the quintessence of it to eliminate everything that parasites it.”

To explain more about what Bioth-Ecology means, here is a video in where you’ll find Celine Laperdrix explaining it. She is using Vitasmoothy, the new launch of Codif TN, as an example. This active ingredient, which plumps up the skin by increasing the cells water reserves, comes from butterfly lavender stem cells.

Codif Technologie Naturelle ambitious adventure around its commitment to sustainability could not be happening without the help of important organisation. Association like UEBT for instance. UEBT, Union for Ethical Bio-Trade, is a non-profit association that promotes sourcing that respects the local environment and all stakeholders.
Since September 2021, Codif has become an official member of UEBT. UEBT members are committed to making a significant contribution to the organization’s mission. This mission is to advance the regeneration of nature and to secure a better future for people through ethical sourcing of ingredients from biodiversity.
Ethical sourcing has always been a priority for the company. But what does ethical sourcing means for Codif TN? Romuald Vallée explains it in this video, by describing Lakesis sourcing.

Even beyond its collaboration with UEBT, Codif Technologie Naturelle is committed to working for a traceability solution for its raw materials. This is why they have invested in the research of tools, such as DNA Barcoding. DNA Barcoding is a game-changing tool for the sourcing of products and the security of the consumers. To explain and illustrate DNA Barcoding, Pierre-Yves is using the active ingredient, Stoechiol, as an example in this video.
