SignalConso, the platform managed by the French DGCCRF for reporting and recalling defective or non-compliant products, is taking on a new dimension. On 22 April 2024, it launched an appeal to consumers to help promote sustainable consumption by reporting any shortcomings they observe in this area.
Do you have doubts about the reality of an environmental claim, a label or the authenticity of a supposedly local origin, or about oversized packaging? The DGCCRF invites you to use the SignalConso reflex!
“Your reports enrich our knowledge of professionals’ practices and guide and facilitate our inspections,” the DGCCRF explains.
“Problems relating to sustainable consumption can be reported on SignalConso, just like any other. In this way, your report can have an incentive effect for professionals who are keen to improve. What’s more, your report provides us with information that can then be used to motivate our checks and guide our investigations to promote sustainable consumption.”
This is the case even if the professional’s practice does not contravene the regulations: “A report is used to call the attention of the professional who, concerned about the expectations of the consumer, may then be keen to change his practice, which may be compliant but not necessarily very environmentally friendly,” the DGCCRF argues. Which concludes: “Don’t ignore the effects of your reports: they are many and they help everyone to change their practices!”
