First national study on exposure to cosmetics (partly) unveiled

How many cosmetics do the French consume? How much do they use? In order to determine this, the LERCCo (the French laboratory for the evaluation of chemical risks for consumers) has been conducting a first national study on French people’s exposure to cosmetics since 2012. Both the method and the first results were presented last May in Rennes, France, as part of the 3rd day of Cosmed’s Grand Ouest branch.

This national gap will be filled very soon, as the results of the first probability evaluation of the French population’s exposure to cosmetics are to be given in December 2015. This study was launched by the ANSM (the French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety) in January 2012 and conducted by the LERCCo (the French laboratory for the evaluation of chemical risks for consumers) at the Université de Bretagne Occidentale (UBO) located in Brest, Brittany, France.
Alain-Claude Roudot, a professor, researcher, and Director of LERCCo, and Anne-Sophie Ficheux, research engineer, came to the afternoon of conferences held by Cosmed Grand Ouest to unveil part of its results.

The €859,330 study was entirely financed by the ANSM (including €600,000 for surveys, Alain-Claude Roudot specified), and it aims at setting up the …
