Today, the notion of benefits provided by cosmetic products, whether for consumers (wellness, self-confidence…) or society in general, is not recognized by the European Cosmetics Regulation. This loophole might seriously disadvantage the industry, but Cosmetics Europe is ready to meet the challenge, as its President Loïc Armand explained to CosmeticOBS.
No less than three conferences were dedicated to the benefits provided by cosmetics at the Cosmetic Europe Week held in Brussels on June 13-17, 2016. Patrick O’Quin, President of the FEBEA (French Federation of Beauty Companies), revealed
the results of the survey on French women’s wellness
, which show the moments dedicated to hygiene and beauty provide women with much more wellness than all the other activities they do.
As for Ines Imdahl, of Rheingold Salon, she presented
the detailed findings of a study conducted among German teenagers
, which highlights the importance of cosmetics for young people, in terms of self-confidence and assertion of their personality.
Lastly, Victoria Sjardin also dealt with the relationship with beauty and cosmetics, as her brand (Dove) is well-known for conducting research in this area.
This programme was not only aimed at praising the positive role of cosmetics in consumers’ lives, but rather at objectively demonstrating the benefits provided by cosmetics. And Loïc Armand, President of Cosmetics Europe, unveiled this main objective as soon as he had started pronouncing his speech at the congress.
