In the current context, where rigorous hygiene and facial masks are becoming a societal norm and a sanitary necessity, facial cleansing is a hot topic. A study conducted by Ipsos for CeraVe, in several countries, explores the habits and customs of consumers.

The survey was conducted by Ipsos in 11 markets around the world between July 16 and August 3, 2020. 5,500 people were questioned about their beauty routine.
“This study highlights a contradiction at the heart of cleansing rituals. Despite good intentions, a significant number of individuals are misinformed and, to put it simply, wrong. More than 30% of those surveyed did not know what the skin barrier was, potentially preventing them from choosing the right cleanser. The survey also shows that the results of these findings vary by country, gender, age groups and education levels,” introduces Penelope Giraud, Global Manager for CeraVe.

Identifying your needs, a real challenge

The cosmetic offer is plethoric and there is no doubt that there is the ideal product for every skin type. Problem: consumers do not always make the best choice. Before making their purchases, 40% of registrants do not know which skin care product to choose and 37% do not understand the meaning of “pH balanced”.
