Herbal Essences and TerraCycle join forces against deforestation

Herbal Essences et TerraCycle s'unissent contre la déforestation

TerraCycle and Herbal Essences, a Procter&Gamble brand, are collaborating on the “Renew the Forest” project. The partnership includes the planting of more than 60,000 trees across the United States, and the donation of 20 benches made from recycled hair product packaging to nature reserves maintained by The Nature Conservancy.

The “Renew the forest” program began in the spring of 2021. At that time, the Herbal Essence brand committed to planting one tree for every two bottles of shampoo purchased at Walmart during the month of April 2021. The initial goal was set at 58,000 trees, it is finally 61,329 trees that will be reintroduced this fall in the American forests.

In addition, 20 benches created from recycled hair care packaging will be donated to the Independence Lake Preserve in California, the Edge of Appalachia Preserve System in Ohio and the Morgan Swamp Preserve in Ohio. This street furniture will be available to walkers who wish to enjoy the view.

Herbal Essences and TerraCycle were pleased with the success of this project. “We are proud to partner with TerraCycle and The Nature Conservancy to implement business practices that directly enhance natural environments for communities to enjoy,” said Rachel Zipperian, Senior Scientist at Herbal Essences.

The brand has a history of working with TerraCycle, as an aerosol and bottle recycling program was created a few years ago and is still running.
