The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reopened a 30-day consultation period on its proposed increase in certification fees for colorants for use in food, drugs and cosmetics.
Announced in November 2022, the purpose of this reform is to adjust the current fee structure, which dates from 2006, to the significant increase in the operating costs of the certification programme.
On 25 April 2024, the Commission opened a new consultation period on this subject, following the addition of further information to the administrative file.
Once the new rules have been adopted, they will come into force 30 days after their publication.
