Conventional vs Organic cosmetics: which distribution channel for which product?

CosmeticOBS carried out a survey of its Internet users on organic cosmetics* in January 2015. Which distribution channels do consumers favour when buying conventional cosmetics, as opposed to organic ones? And for which product categories? Here are the results and the current situation.

What is the average purchasing budget for cosmetics?

51% of the consumers surveyed say they globally spend 21 to 51 euros per month on average on cosmetics (organic and conventional). 27% buy them for less than 20 euros, 18% for 51 to 100 euros, and 4% pay out over 100 euros per month.
Now as for organic cosmetics only, monthly budgets are inferior. 42% of respondents spend less than 20 euros per month and 39% from 21 to 50 euros. Only 12% pay more than 51 euros per month for organic cosmetics, including 2% paying out over 100 euros. It should be noted that 32 people out of 604 answered they did not buy organic cosmetics.
As for conventional cosmetics, for which the difference in prices varies more between the different product types (from supermarket toothpaste to selective perfumes) and is more important than for organic cosmetics, their consumers allow them a higher purchasing budget on average. If, among respondents, only about 5% never buy organic-labelled cosmetics, it should be noted that these consumers like mixing conventional and organic products and shift from one market to another.
