South Korea is one of the countries that sets the pace for the cosmetics industry. On the occasion of the second edition of the Beauty Leaders Summit (held in Paris on November 20 and 21, 2024), Florence Bernardin, Founder of the Cosme Lab agency, presented the latest South Korean cosmetics trends.
According to the expert, a few major trends are emerging.
Ideal skin condition
In South Korea, the cult of “beautiful skin” reigns supreme. It must be radiant, plump and luminous, with minimized pores.
Medical Inspired Care - “Homecedure”
“Korea is a powerhouse when it comes to beauty care and plastic surgery. As a result, there are various products inspired by procedures or aimed at maximizing the effects of beauty procedures while minimizing side effects,” explains Florence Bernardin. “Due to a very high sense of perfection and a highly democratized market for procedures, skincare has become an extension of the quest for youthful, glowing skin. Post-procedure care remains the most fashionable skin care category.”
Bright Activators - Local Care
Korean consumers are very cautious when it comes to sun exposure. They don’t hesitate to protect themselves when out and about to avoid various pigmentary disorders such as hyperpigmentation, melasma, freckles and spots.
Bright Activators - UV Protection
From concentrated local care to global protection, the evolution of protection covers a wide range of needs.
Slow Aging Care
This new beauty trend, called slow-aging, has emerged even among the younger generation, who want to prevent aging from an early age.
