For its latest inspiration book (presented at Cosmetagora, January 10-11, 2023), the ingredient supplier studied Gen Z and the way they approach skincare. From this in-depth survey was born the Daily Crazy trend report: a manifesto that carries the values of a cosmetic that breaks the codes and explores new territories.
Gen Z is decidedly non-conformist and opposed to sleek, unpolished aesthetics.
According to data collected by Gattefossé, 72% of American consumers say that beauty is defined too rigidly and 44% believe it is important to be assertive.
And while cosmetics are the perfect way to reflect their personality, Gen Z wants to have fun. Therefore, it is crucial that brands offer fun and enjoyable innovations.
With this in mind, Gattefossé has identified three themes.
I.D Manifesto
This trend anchors a desire for acceptance and self-expression. No more trying to hide one’s flaws, on the contrary, they are vectors of singularity. In terms of makeup and hairstyle, there is no longer any question of looking for the “perfect glow”. The trend is towards color. The face and the hair become real canvases on which the consumer lets his imagination go.
To illustrate this trend, Gattefossé has designed three products (with a naturalness rate of over 90%).
They include a powdery primer, a water-resistant holographic eyeliner and a solid highlighter with a gel-like texture that deposits light golden glitter.
Playground
