Côte d’Ivoire is one of the most attractive areas in Africa for French cosmetic brands. This is why Business France has dedicated a webinar, broadcast during the E-Cosmetic 360 trade show, in order to give all the strings to access this country and make a successful business establishment.

Côte d’Ivoire has a population of 24.3 individuals. The GDP per capita is 1466 dollars.
The beauty market in sub-Saharan Africa was estimated at 10 billion euros in 2017, with an increase of 8 to 10% per year.
The major groups (L’Oréal, Procter&Gamble, Unilever) are investing in the niche of ethnic cosmetics, specially formulated for black and mixed-race skin.

According to Business France, “Ivorian customers are willing to pay full price for certain categories of products (perfumery, makeup), but remain uncompromising on their quality. According to a study conducted in 2015 by the agency AK-A, French women of African origin would have a care budget four times greater than that of Caucasian women (€ 1000 against €250).”

Foreign brands are largely preferred to local brands (73%). The majority of these products do not come from the African continent. Indeed, consumers take advantage of their travels to make their cosmetic purchases. It should be noted that despite their affection for the beauty industry, the Ivorian female population is still attached to naturalness and likes to make homemade beauty care.
