Perfume, like other cosmetics, is not immune to trends. Depending on the year, consumers prefer certain ingredients. Trendalytics, a trend forecasting agency, has compiled the raw materials that will make the buzz this season and at the beginning of the year.

To conduct this report, the firm analyzed Internet users’ search data.

Citrus
It registers 98,000 weekly searches on average. “While one might expect this note to be sought after in summer, it peaks in November and December.” There are nearly 4,000 fragrances on the market that contain this accord.

Musk
Searches for musk are up 73% from last year (9700 on average per week). Musk has become an increasingly popular note in unisex fragrances.
Selfridges is the retailer with the most fragrances containing this ingredient (48 references).

Almond
This note is still very popular with consumers (68% increase in online searches versus 2021). Neutral, it is often present as a top note in juices.

Neroli
The affection for neroli continues to grow with +101% of online searches compared to last year.
This popular scent is also getting the lion’s share of attention from luxury brands.

Jasmine
This flowery scent is holding its own. So much so that some perfumes containing it are regularly out of stock. This is the case for Missing Person by Phlur and Burberry Her Elixir.
