As part of the fight against the spread of Covid-19, the government has announced the closure of non-essential businesses throughout the country until at least May 2. Unlike hair salons, beauty salons are affected by this injunction. This is an injustice, according to the Guinot - Mary Cohr group, which has just filed a petition with the Council of State to obtain the reopening of these spaces.

Since March 18, beauty salons have been the victims of a flagrant injustice with the decision to close so-called non-essential shops first in 16 departments, then 19 and finally throughout the country.
This decision is all the more astonishing and discriminatory as hairdressing salons are, on the contrary, allowed to remain open. The government, by authorizing the opening of hair salons only, has simply forgotten the beauty care services, indissociable services and belonging to the same activity code as the latter, and which participate in the same objectives of preservation of the mental and psychological health of the population in this particularly trying period for all.
The freedom of enterprise, the freedom of trade and the principle of non-discrimination are fundamental freedoms.

The current situation leads to unfair competition throughout the metropolitan territory, which is extremely harmful for all professionals in the field of beauty care:
• Unfair competition from supermarkets whose hygiene/beauty departments remain widely open on the metropolitan territory
• Unfair competition from hair salons
• Unfair competition from home care sites, beauty treatments and services for the beautification of eyes and nails, which continue to prosper legally …
