According to the latest report from Mintel, a market research firm, consumers are looking for simple beauty routines that are good for the skin and good for the spirit. But at a time of ever-faster technological progress, the general public is also looking for a hyper-personalized offer tailored to each individual.

Mintel has identified three key trends for the coming year.

Consumers are placing a premium on well-being, to feel better in body and mind. Certain factors, such as stress or anxiety, can have an impact on the condition of the skin or hair.
89% of Chinese people want to feel calmer, and 84% of Mexicans admit that their physical appearance helps boost their self-confidence.

For the general public, the link between body and mind is no longer in doubt. 79% of French people believe that a good diet is just as important as choosing the right cosmetics.
“Practices such as neurocosmetics will gain in popularity with consumers worldwide,” explains Mintel. Today, 70% of Americans say they are inclined to pay more for beauty products that help them relax.

However, “mental and physical well-being differ from person to person.” This is why 29% of Germans say they are prepared to carry out in-depth analyses in order to tailor their routines 100% to their needs.
“In the future, as our understanding of the mind-body connection deepens, the trend towards integrating mental wellness into the beauty industry will become more widespread.”
