General Directorate for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control
A Department of the French Ministry of Finances, DGCCRF (French acronym) is in charge of smoothing the markets' forces.
For this purpose, it goes along three actions:
• regulating competition in the markets (preventing too much concentrations, unfair business practices; fight against counterfeiting…)
• consumer protection (checks that labels, composition and names of goods meet regulation…)
• consumer safety (checks products and looks after the dangerousness of products using tests from the laboratories it shares with customs services).
It watches all the consumer services and products, among them, obviously, cosmetics.
