Pigment-free foundations and illuminators, powders with living probiotics, sticks with biomimetic pigments, refillable packaging… complexion makeup products are becoming increasingly virtuous and innovations abound this fall.

The first pigment-free foundations and illuminators

We owe them to Becca Cosmetics, an American brand distributed by Sephora. Its Becca Zero range includes a pigment-free foundation (No Pigment Virtual Foundation, 30 ml, €38) and a pigment-free Pigment Glass Highlighter for Face and Lips (No Pigment Glass Highlighter for Face and Lips, 6.5 ml, €27). The vegan formulas (PETA certified) are free of silicone, alcohol, mineral oils, synthetic fragrance… they contain hyaluronic acid and use Clear Light Blue technology which diffuses light over the face to smooth and blur imperfections. The texture of the foundation is a very dense gel with a “pore minimizer” effect. Of course, you shouldn’t expect the same coverage as a classic foundation (especially to camouflage redness or pigmentation spots), but the complexion is still sharper, duller and a little more even, with a transparent, virtually invisible matte finish. And it leaves no trace!

Microbiome friendly makeup

Estée Lauder’s new foundation (Futurist Hydra Rescue Moisturizing Foundation SPF 45, 30 ml, €45, 20 shades) combines coverage and care. Enriched with probiotic and chia seed extract (which nourishes the skin with omega-3 fatty acids), it balances the skin’s microbiome to ensure a healthy environment.
