A bright smile is not only a sign of good oral health, it is also an element that contributes to well-being and self-confidence. The Colgate brand has conducted a survey in partnership with the IFOP polling institute in order to highlight the virtues of smiling on the morale of the French.
The study was conducted on a sample of 1,000 French people aged 18 and over.
The panel was interviewed by self-administered online questionnaire between January 27 and February 4, 2022.
Smiling is a daily gesture for the majority of French people. 86% of respondents say they do it at least once a day.
This habit is linked to the following emotions:
• Joy
• Well-being
• Satisfaction
• Peace of mind
• Comfort
• Confidence
• Encouragement
And it would seem that the French are more comfortable with their loved ones since they confide in showing their teeth to their family more often (63%) than outside (22%).
The study reveals that the French also smile when they are faced with an uncomfortable situation (85%).
This allows them to feel:
• Comfort
• Encouragement
• Appeasement
• Confidence
• Well-being
• Satisfaction
“Smiles are a true ingredient of happiness,” explains Colgate. “We must not hesitate to maintain it. And today, more than one in four French people are concerned by oral problems, especially in adulthood.”
