Which requirements must a website publisher meet? What information must absolutely be made available to web users, whether on an institutional or e-commerce website? Last October 21, 2016, at the morning on connected beauty organized by the FEBEA (French Federation of Beauty Companies), Emmanuelle Gourbin, Director of the Federation’s Legal & Social Department, made a complete update on this issue.

A whole set of regulations must be taken into account to make sure a French website and its content comply with the rules in force, for example:
• The Loi Informatique et Libertés of 6 January 1978, in particular for everything that concerns data collection
• The ‘Loi Toubon’ of 4 August 1994 on the use of the French language
• The law of 21 June 2004 on confidence in the digital economy (LCEN)
• The ‘Loi Hamon’ of 17 March 2014 on consumption, a transposition of the 2011 European Directive on Consumer Rights, but which introduced new provisions on distance selling
‘The underlying ideology behind all these regulations,’ Emmanuelle Gourbin explained, ‘is consumer information and protection, by making a whole series of information available for more transparency and clarity.’
And the person responsible for the accuracy of this information is the website owner.
