The new make-up removal gestures

© L'Observatoire des Cosmétiques

A pebble that looks like a sex toy, a glove with microfibers that love shadows, heated cleansing balms, special cleansing foams for children and even make-up removers for hair! Cleansing does not know the crisis… of inventiveness! And cosmetic brands are not short of ideas to always simplify and"sensorialize" this gesture essential to the beauty of the skin.

It is well known that make-up removal/cleaning is an essential step, but it must be admitted, not always the favourite of women! Good news, today there are more and more products that create the desire to use them, transforming the"chore" into an exhilarating experience! Easy, unusual, fun, sensory, express or high-tech, the new cleansers/make-up removers surprise, amuse or save money. Poland, Sweden, United Kingdom, France or Korea, the novelties are coming from all over the world!

Innovative microfibers

The Polish brand Glov make-up remover glove, which is coming to Monoprix this month, certainly saves time… and money, as it does not require any product other than tap water! Thanks to its square shape with 4 angles in which one slides the hand, and to its microfibres a hundred times finer than a hair, its purely physical action is immediate. It gently removes make-up, impurities or skin care masks and can be used on any skin type, including sensitive. The star-like structure of the microfibres makes it possible to multiply the points of contact with the epidermis. It can thus"grasp" everything that resides on the surface of the skin. The fibres are antibacterial and this, during the three months of use of the glove, ensures the mark. Finally, their electrostatic capabilities make them capture make-up like a magnet. Simply rub the glove under warm water and apply to the face, rubbing gently. We start with the eyes with the corners, then we continue with the whole face and neck. The gesture is soft, pleasant, particularly comfortable and fast, but not quite as effective as a traditional make-up removal (during the test, after using the glove, we passed a cotton pad impregnated with micellar water on the face and there was still some make-up left! Small constraint nevertheless: it is necessary to clean the glove after each use with water and soap, before making it dry for a new use. Glov Hydro make-up remover gloves are available in 2 versions: Comfort (€14.99), or Glov-on-the-go, a smaller size for travel (€12.99).

Good vibes!

This time, it is about a beauty toy Swedish cleanser (it does not remove make-up and is therefore used either as a second step in make-up removal or with a cleansing product in the morning on bare skin) and massages the face. Luna™ from Foreo (189 €, from April at Sephora), which exists in four colours adapted to different skin types: pale pink for normal to sensitive skin, sky blue for combination skin, white for very sensitive skin, black for men, clearly plays the design card. Particularly aesthetic, this oval silicone pebble soft touch It is hypoallergenic and non-porous (which limits the proliferation of bacteria) and does not look like a cleaning brush, rather like a sex toy! Not very ergonomic, it is not necessarily practical to reach the small corners of the face (nose wings…). With its 8,000 sonic beats per minute and eight speeds, it is aimed at cleaning maniacs and perfectionists who never feel clean enough. It deeply cleanses the face, removes dead skin, cleanses pores of impurities and excess sebum, as well as make-up residues that may remain after the first stage of make-up removal. While the front of the pebble has pimples of different widths depending on the type of skin, the reverse side has a surface with concentric edges that massage the face and stimulate the tissues: this is why the brand announces"anti-aging properties". Its advantages: there is no brush to change, it is very easy to clean and offers a great autonomy (the device allows up to 450 uses after one hour of charging). Luna™ also exists in mini all round format, for travel (139 €, 300 uses for 1 hour charging, three bright colors: fuchsia, purple or green).

Solid or heated cleansing balms

My first is Franco-Korean and is part of a new 123 Detox range inspired by the"impec skin" ritual of Korean women. It is Erborian's Solid Cleansing Oil (100 ml, 33 €, from 28 April), a green water balm formulated entirely with oils in a solid formula, whose texture metamorphoses twice. In contact with the heat of the skin, the wax becomes oil and literally melts the most stubborn make-up. It is then enough to add a little water so that the oil is transformed again this time into milk, eliminating implacably all the residues and impurities. Result: the skin is perfectly clean and thoroughly cleansed. It's sweet, ultra-cocoon and… quite voluptuous! My second is the Sephora Super Heating Effect Cleanser (125 ml, €9.95, from 28 April). Its dense and thick texture based on maple sap, rich in nutrients, gives the impression of massaging honey on the skin, without the sticky effect. And all of a sudden, the skin gets hot. A little, not too much (it remains pleasant). As a result, pores open and impurities, sebum and make-up are dissolved. After rinsing, the skin appears soft and clean, without any tightness.

Cleaners for children

Always in the image of Korean women who offer complete ranges of cosmetics for children (and even for babies, it seems!), the new French brand, Nougatine Paris, offers cosmetics for children from 3 to 12 years, distributed in perfumeries, pharmacies and parapharmacies… Chantimousse (100 ml, 16.90 €) is a cleansing foam with the perfume of cotton candy, for children from 6 to 12 years. Too bad that, in the composition of a product for children, we find the tandem of preservatives so disparaged because of its high allergenic potential (see article Methylisothiazolinone and Methylchloroisothiazolinone in the ingredient of the month section). Even if the idea seems good (after all, given the cult of appearance and self care that is becoming more and more prevalent, why shouldn't children have basic products dedicated to them?), we are entitled to expect irreproachable formulas for them. For example, the Sweet Mousse of TooFruit certified organic and already on the market since 2011…

Hair detox

Even if this make-up remover concerns the hair, and no longer the skin, we can't resist the urge to mention it so original it is! ColourB4 is the first hair colour remover! It comes from the UK and removes all hair dye residues without risk of damaging hair (it contains neither ammonia nor peroxide). Effective on permanent or semi-permanent colourings, it reverses the oxidation process and makes it possible to remove the accumulation of colourings, to uniform an artificial colour or to find its natural colour again, then, if one wishes it, to immediately make again a colouring. No need to wait for hair to grow back or bleach to change colour. Easy to use, it consists of three products: Activator, Eraser and Corrector. The first two are mixed and applied as a standard colouring (exposure time: 1 hour under cellophane), rinsed and then applied with a concealer. It is available in three versions: ColourB4 Normal (12.95 €), for recent or light to medium shades (e.g. ash or light chestnut shades) ColourB4 Extra (13.95 €), for colour accumulations or dark shades (dark chestnut, black and red) ColourB4 Frequent use (13.95 €), for those who frequently use home colouring, which contains a conditioner enriched with argan oil, keratin and wheat protein.
