The Egyptian cosmetics sector is divided into two segments: the mass-market (810 million euros) and the premium (70 million euros).
The sector has suffered from the health crisis. Egyptians have reviewed their priorities and have preferred to buy more hygiene products.

Egyptians are young. Those under 25 years old represent 24% of the population against 5.2% for those over 65 years old. They are more concerned about their appearance than their elders.

Market Characteristics
The market is divided between large international groups that produce locally and local brands. Nevertheless, the weight of the multinationals is more important.

Products from France have a good reputation among consumers.
France is the second largest exporter from Egypt.
The main French luxury brands distributed are Chanel, Dior, Guerlain, Yves Saint-Laurent, Clarins. There are also Bioderma, Nuxe, Uriage, Avène, L’Oréal, Clarins, Bourjois…
