A first bottle in recycled glass for two limited editions of Chanel N°5

Un premier flacon en verre recyclé pour deux éditions limitées du N°5 de Chanel

Recycling can alter the transparency of the glass used for perfumery (the purest and most brilliant quality). To celebrate the 100th anniversary of N°5, Chanel and the Pochet Group have joined forces to create the first high-end recycled glass for two limited editions. This is just the beginning, as this innovation will be progressively deployed on other Chanel fragrances from 2022.

Avant-garde and timeless, N°5 reinvents itself in an imperceptible way and remains always ahead of its time. In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel overturned the codes of perfumery and chose an essential bottle, stripped of all ornamentation, which left the perfume in its place. On the occasion of her “100 years of fame”, it will be the first perfume bottle to incorporate recycled glass while maintaining a purity, brilliance and transparency close to that of crystal (N°5 Eau de parfum Collector, 100 ml, €150 and N°5 L’Eau Collector, 100 ml, €140).

This high quality of glass has been obtained thanks to a patented technology of selective sorting. This is a real technological challenge, because the crystal clear transparency of the bottle is based on the purity of the raw material used. The teams from Chanel and Pochet du Courval, a French Living Heritage Company, have rethought the manufacture of the glass as part of a common approach to sustainable development and eco-responsibility. “Every detail has been carefully considered. The tint, transparency, purity and brilliance of this glass, as well as its resistance, have been rigorously evaluated,” says Chanel.
