It publishes its 2014 results, which shed light on the major trends up to 2017. Analysis by Annette Freidinger-Legay, international packaging expert, followed by 2014 key figures;

Favorable production prospects for OEMs, restored margins for packaging manufacturers

The outlook for packaging buyers has remained positive for the past two years, with 60% of respondents expecting their production to increase compared with 53% in 2013 and 2012. The e-commerce distribution, trade, logistics and"eldorado" sector is"racing" this year with forecasts up 75% of the time compared to 52% the previous year and 50% in 2012. The other customer sectors regained confidence compared to the last two years except for personal equipment, household goods and intermediate goods.

The ranking of customer sectors with a higher probability of growth confirms the importance of cosmetics-hygiene-beauty and health-pharmacy in front of the solid food industry, which dropped to 4th place ahead of liquid food.

Production prospects are boosted this yearThis is the first time that logistics and handling equipment manufacturers have joined the Observatory. Together, they are betting 55% on increasing their production, up from 47% in 2013 and 37% in 2012.
